Sandusky Block Party

 All Teams:

  • Tournament will be 1 day
  • Matches will be best two of three sets, with the first two sets being to 25 points, and the deciding set—if necessary—to 15. Tiebreaking protocol described below. If pools of 3 teams – you will play best of 5
  • The warm-up protocol will be 2-4-4 for all matches—i.e., 2 minutes of shared court time for warm-up on your side only; 4 minutes for serving team to hit and/or serve; 4 minutes for receiving team to hit and/or serve. To enable the playing of matches to 25 without the tournament falling behind, officials will call for the Captain’s Meeting of the subsequent match immediately upon completion of the previous match, and the 10-minute warm-up will begin at that time.
  • Liberos may serve.
  • The first matches will commence at 9:00 a.m.; subsequent matches will begin immediately upon completion of the previous match.
  • Once bracket play begins, the loser on a given court is obligated to officiate the match immediately following unless specifically noted otherwise on the schedule. Winners may also have to ref on occasion so please be mindful.
  • PLEASE double check the work schedule and carefully note reffing assignments. Reffing assignments are not always for YOUR bracket. If in doubt, check with the site director.

Coin toss procedures for breaking ties involving two teams: The tournament director will have a meeting with one coach from each team. The tournament director will give a quarter (any same coin can be used) to each coach. The tournament director will call “heads” or “tails”. The coaches will flip the coins into the air at same time and let them fall to the ground. The coach with the coin with the pre-determined “heads” or “tails” will have the higher finish. If both coins land with the pre-determined “heads” or “tails”, then the coaches will toss their coins again until the tie is broken.
